LP-to-CD : 45, 33 and 78 Speed
Thank you for visiting my website.
I hope you enjoy your stay and even find motivation in my story on how my passion(s) became my business.
My name is Rhona Peens and I live in Pretoria North, Gauteng, South Africa.
First of all I’m a writer, have been for the past 40 years.
For as long as I can remember I wrote articles and short stories for magazines, news papers and radio stations. You can read about my latest work and releases as you scroll down on the website.
At one stage I was under severe pressure from my publisher as I was behind on very important work. At this stage I lacked motivation and was depressed after the death of our beloved Mother, who used to be my biggest fan, editor, critic and motivation, although she passed away 18 months ago. I was also missing my daughters who are both working in the United Arabic Emirates.
Realizing that I was about to be fired I remembered a poem that I wrote in High School and knew that the answers for the piece that I so urgently had to write was in that poem.
While searching for my “forgotten articles” in our garage, I stumbled across a carton box with all my old records from many years ago.
Going through this old, priceless, irreplaceable collection, it took me back to my childhood, and I remembered how my passion for this music became by force on Sundays when we all had to sit and listen to this music as a family.
I even found records that my husband bought for me, when he was serving in the South African Airforce and was based in a big city, where all the latest releases could be found, trying to won my heart and to convince me to marry him. As I went through the collection I saw that I had most of the music that I only occasionally heard on certain radio stations, but also realized, that this was the motivation I needed.
Now I had to find our old record player with which my husband and I spend many hours by candle light (because of the lack of electricity on the farm). I was very happy when I found it, much to my husband’s frustration. Being the good husband that he is and an excellent handyman (that is how he earn his money), and with all the love in the world he could not manage to get the record player, playing. He however found a beautiful system that can play 45, 33 and 78 speed records, “on the other side of the continent”.
I was very disappointed in the poor quality of the sound of the records due to scratches and wear and tear over the years. Anyhow, I bought myself some very high-tech equipment and very expensive software and are now able to convert this records to CD.
Very soon I was “attacked” by family and friends to convert their records to CD. Unfortunately it takes time and money. Being an artist I’m against any means of piracy, so for protection of you, myself, the artist and the industry, I do not do mass production for reselling or any other means. I will however make more than one copy on request.
So, let me convert your precious records for you to CD to enjoy the beautiful music on the latest hi-tech sound systems, while you keep your priceless collection in a safe place.
VERY LOW TO "NO-NOISE" AND
EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY GUARANTEED.

My Husbands Hobby - Woodcarving
My ideal is to just do full time woodcarving but I still run my own Maintanance business in Pretoria. As a farmer for many years I have learned to do anything. I love plumbing but do anything in and around the home that can go wrong, except problems with your mother-in-law.
My eldest daughter started with classes in woodcarving in 1981. I was fascinated as I watched her working and one day when she cut her finger I hesitated to complete the work for her. She was discontented for it wasn’t the way that she wanted it. She preferred more texture and I loved the smooth finishing.
I never felt the urge to cut animals or flowers out of wood, because they all look the same. To cut out the relief of a person is a challenge, for it must look like him or her. On a canvas with paint you can paint a fault over but with wood it is a challenge not to cut too much at a time away, because you can’t put it back.
Highlights in my woodcarving career was the completion of the piece on the left of Mr. Mandela and a very special "thank you note" by Charlize Theron.
I have done many other projects for other famous artists, politicians and ordinary citizens.
I will gladly accept any request for woodcarving. The more difficult the piece, the bigger the challenge and the more I love it.
